The Highlights: Start by riding through the rolling hills of the Val d’Orcia, famous for its cypress-lined roads and golden fields, before stopping for a coffee in Piancastagnaio on the slopes of Mount Amiata. Continue south into Lazio towards Lake Bolsena, Italy’s largest volcanic lake, with a scenic viewpoint offering a great place to stop and enjoy the view. Another highlight is Civita di Bagnoregio, the remarkable hilltop village known as the dying town, where erosion is slowly changing the landscape beneath it. Enjoy lunch near Trinità with a fantastic view of Orvieto, perched high on a cliff of volcanic rock.
